Brazil forward Neymar has been ruled out of the FIFA World Cup Qualifier match against Argentina scheduled to take place on Tuesday after he complained of an apparent thigh problem following a training session.
Neymar sustained the thigh injury just a couple of days after Brazil defeated Colombia 1 - 0, thus securing a spot at next year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The national team confirmed that Neymar would be sent back to France for treatment. “After training this morning, Neymar complained of thigh pain. Unable to carry out additional tests, the staff decided to rest the player who will not be travelling with the delegation to San Juan,” the Brazilian football confederation (CBF) announced. Meanwhile, Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who had suffered a knee injury and missed out on PSG’s last two games, is reportedly fit to participate in the World Cup Qualifier.
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said on Monday, “He (Messi) was physically fit the other day and in the end we decided that the best thing was for him to play a few minutes so that he could get a feel for it and he is confirmed to play tomorrow (Tuesday). We hope he finds himself in a good place.”
