New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and wife Sarah Raheem have welcomed a baby girl into their family. Williamson took to Instagram to announce the news on Wednesday.

Sharing a picture of him holding his newborn, the cricketer had written, "Overjoyed to welcome a beautiful baby girl into our family." Williamson had opted out of the recently concluded second Test against West Indies last week after he took a paternity leave to join his wife Sarah Raheem in Tauranga for the birth of their first child. The batsman had also smashed his highest ever Test score in the first Test that New Zealand played against West Indies before taking his leave. Congratulatory messages poured in for the beloved player from people across the world, including several cricketers. Williamson's IPL teammates David Warner, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rashid Khan, had wished the couple while Indian team's skipper Virat Kohli wrote, "Congratulations to the both of you for this blessing in your lives. Lots of love from us to you." Kohli, who is currently playing the first Test against Australia, will be leaving on paternity leave as well, to join his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child in January.

Kane Williamson married Sarah Raheem, who is a nurse by profession, in a private ceremony in November this year. Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina also sent their wishes to the couple.
