As the postponement of Nani-starrer Tuck Jagadish gains momentum among Telugu film trade circles, Indiaglitz has learnt that a decision on this will be taken at a formal meeting this Monday. While the makers are trying hard to keep its date with the slated April 23 release, the latest developments in Tollywood seem to suggest otherwise.
A little birdie in the know informed us that distributors of the film from Ceded and Coastal Andhra have been pressurising the producers to defer its release to May amidst speculations that the Telugu governments are considering operating the cinema halls and theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with 50% occupancy from April 15 to April 30.
Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi, the producers of Tuck Jagadish have decided to hold a meeting with Lakshman, the Nizam and Uttarandhra (UA) distributor of the film on Monday. "This meeting will give us clarity about whether the film is releasing on April 23 or postponed to May. It would ideally be Lakshman's call as he has acquired the theatrical rights of the film for two states and has now retained Nizam and Visakhapatnam (UA)," says a source.
Meanwhile, the makers are also planning to organise the pre-release event of Tuck Jagadish on April 18 in Hyderabad. "If the film is delayed, this event will also be postponed to a later date," the source adds.
Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Tuck Jagadish features Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh and Jagapathi Babu in prominent roles. The film's trailer will be released in Visakhapatnam on April 13 coinciding with Ugadi.
