Balaji became popular after he started working as a RJ. All of his programmes were loaded with unique humor and satire. His knack of making people laugh out loud with trolling others as well as getting trolled and also with his unique voice and modulation and creating new funny remarks like 'Romantic of the romambulance', 'awesomatic experience' etc made him one of the most popular and people favourite among the RJs of Tamil FM channels. RJ Balaji's popularity in Radio and small screen took him to Kollywood. He made his acting debut in a small but memorable comic role in director Sundar.C's super hit flick 'Theeya Vela Seyyanum Kumaru'. His fulfilling performance as the lead comedian in 'Vada Curry', 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' and 'Pugazh' has made him one of the highly bankable comedy actors in Kollywood. He has replaced Rajesh's regular comically Santhanam (who is now busy with his projects as hero), in his upcoming film 'Kadavul Irukkaan Kumaru' starring G.V.Prakash in lead role. He also has Jeeva starrer 'Kavalai Vendam,' 'Parandhu Sella Va' and a few other exciting films in his kitty.

Apart from Radio jockeying and acting. Balaji has become extremely popular as an iconic and inspirational youngster. He achieved this respectable status mainly for his sincere and tremendous involvement along with actor Siddharth, in the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims affected by the deluge that stuck Chennai and Cuddalore in December last. For his remarkable services in this regard, he won the Indian of the Year award given by NDTV along with Siddharth. He is also responsible for making the so called National Media pay some attention towards one of the biggest disasters Tamil Nadu has ever faced, through his tweet which went viral in social media. He is still involved in the efforts for rehabilitation of people who have lost everything in the heavy rains and floods.

Even as an RJ, Balaji has been spreading highly relevant and important social messages through Radio and social media and has been increasing the public awareness on important issues through his Radio programmes and social media messages. Ahead of the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections he orchestrated some really useful programmes to improve the understanding and awareness about the elections and politics, especially for the youngsters and new voters.
