The debate over MS Dhoni's future in cricket has been happening since India's semi-final exit from the 2019 World Cup, after which Dhoni has not played international cricket and refrained from answering questions regarding the same as well.
Dhoni's omission from BCCI's central contract sparked further rumours and veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh stated that he is not surprised seeing the former skipper's omission and that it is unlikely that he will play for India again even if he performs well in the upcoming IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, former president of the BCCI and Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan has confirmed that Dhoni will be leading the Indian Premier League franchise in 2021. "MS Dhoni will play this year. And next year he will be in the auction and he will be retained," he mentioned in an event recently.
The news came as a relief for several Indian cricket fans and CSK fans as well, as Dhoni's contribution to the team, by far, has remained unparalleled.
