Mohan Babu and family grace Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ premiere at 77 Cannes Film Festival

The anticipation for the teaser of Manchu Vishnu’s devotional epic “Kannappa” is reaching fever pitch among Tollywood fans.  The makers have promised a grand launch at the prestigious 77th Cannes International Film Festival, with the entire cast and crew already present.  

Prior to the teaser unveiling, Mohan Babu, alongside Vishnu, his wife Viranica, Prabhu Deva, and other members of the “Kannappa” team, attended the world premiere of the Hollywood film “Horizon: An American Saga,” starring Kevin Costner. The three-hour epic, the first chapter of a planned four-part series, received an impressive 11-minute and 40-second standing ovation after the credits rolled at the Grand Theatre Lumiere.  Costner, who directed and stars in the film, was visibly moved by the enthusiastic response, sharing with the audience, “There’s no place like here – I’ll never forget this.  I made this [movie]… it’s not mine anymore, this is yours, and I knew that the minute it was over.”  He expressed his gratitude, adding, “I feel so lucky, so blessed.  There’s three more.”

Back to “Kannappa,” directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film delves into the legend of Kannappa, a devotee of Lord Shiva.  Produced by Mohan Babu through AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Vishnu Manchu in the titular role. The screenplay is penned by Vishnu himself, based on a story developed by a team including Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G. Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad.

The ensemble cast features a galaxy of stars like Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Kajal, and Sarathkumar.  The captivating original score and songs are composed by the renowned duo of Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma.  Originally shot in Telugu, “Kannappa” is set to be dubbed and released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English, promising a wider audience a glimpse into this captivating devotional tale.
