Malavika Mohanan is a leading actress in the south. On the film front, she is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming Malayalam film 'Christy' and also shooting for Chiyaan Vikram starrer 'Thangalaan' directed by Pa Ranjith.
Malavika landed in a controversy earlier for taking a dig at top south actress Nayanthara in a media interaction. Now, she is caught in trouble again over her recent statement during an interview with a Malayalam channel. Nayanthara fans are agitated at Malavika's statement which was misinterpreted.
In the interview, Malavika reportedly stated that people identify actors as Superstars and the actress as Lady Superstar. She added that in her opinion it was right to call Nayanthara also a Superstar and not Lady Superstar. Some people twisted the context that Malavika had insulted Nayanthara in her interview which resulted in Nayan fans bashing Malavika.
Replying to a media house, Malavika Mohanan clarified today that she talked about gender discrimination and wrote, "My comment was about a term that is used to describe female actors & not about any specific actor. I really respect & admire Nayanthara, and as a senior really look upto her incredible journey. Can people please calm down. Especially the tabloid journos. Only love to Miss N" (sic).
