‘Majili’ earns big from non-theatrical rights

Call it the genre’s effect or the combination of Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, the digital, satellite and Hindu dubbing rights of ‘Majili’ have reportedly enriched the producers by Rs 12 Cr.  The intense romantic drama’s lucre in the digital arena was expected.

The film’s theatrical business may not turn out to be too high, given that Chay’s recent films were disasters at the box-office.

As for the characters of the lead actors in the movie, director Shiva Nirvana says that the Akkineni hero’s character is versatile in the Summer release.  “He is as simple as everybody and as complicated as every middle-class husband,” the director says.  As for Samantha, she will be seen as a girl-next-door named Sravani.  

The entertainer has Divyanshika Kaushik as the other heroine.   The film has music by Gopi Sundar.  It releases on April 5.
