In his latest interview, Mahesh Babu has revealed new information about 'Bharat Ane Nenu', which will hit the screens on April 20. Here we bring you some of the highlights.
1. The one politician I took as a reference while playing Bharat is Jaydev Galla garu. He too is a US-return, much like Bharat. The way I say 'Madam Speaker' in the movie resembles his style. The way he carries himself is something I looked up to before starting the shoot!
2. I was blown away when Koratala Siva garu narrated each half of the film for 2.5 hours at a Bangkok health resort. I asked him as to how he will condense the script into a 3-hour-long movie. We had to eliminate so many good scenes. Otherwise, 'BAN' would have been made into a two-part series! It would have been great. But then we had to make sacrifices.
3. The Assembly scenes were shot in such a way as to resemble a proper Assembly session. Even if someone had no shot, he or she was to be mandatorily present on the set for all the 7 days. It was one of the first schedules that we shot. When I saw the set on the first day, I was wowed. The right atmosphere always helps an actor.
4. It was a great honour to dub for the Oath of Bharat. The idea was to complete it in a few minutes. But I took 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs. I approached it with a lot of respect as great leaders have taken the oath in the past.
5. The main essence of 'BAN' is a love story. The audience will find it interesting to watch how the CM fights, dances, etc. Only with commercial elements can you satisfy the audiences across A, B and C centers.
6. When Koratala garu completed the film's narration, the first question I asked him is about how he wants to picturize the fights. I was blown away by his conception. The fights are a part of the story and there is no cinematic liberty whatsoever.
7. Working with the entire direction department was a nice experience. Usually, assistants tend to confuse the actors out of over-enthusiasm. But this department was very different. There was a constant debate between me and them on the sets. I would sometimes explain to them why I did a scene that way.
8. Although Koratala garu did a lot of research in writing the movie, he could not afford to infuse everything in the film. After all, you can't afford to be carried away by your research.
9. I was in Mumbai when Koratala garu had a look test for me. I happened to insert my shirt that day. He loved the look and wanted me to have it for the film.
10. I felt very happy meeting my fans during those four days recently while shooting for the 'Vacchadayyo Saami' number. It's one of the most memorable experiences. I didn't know meeting me was so important to them. They came all the way from their villages, waited for 2-3 hours on the sets to meet me. And they were very happy to be snapped with me. I should have done this long way, I felt.
