The wait is finally over for one of the most anticipated projects from the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). The makers of ‘Mahakali’, presented by RKD Studios and Prasanth Varma, have unveiled the film’s much-awaited first glimpse titled ‘Shukracharya’s WarCry’.
Along with the glimpse, the makers have officially announced the release date. ‘Mahakali’ is set to hit theatres worldwide on January 8, 2027.
The 2-minute-55-second glimpse introduces audiences to a powerful conflict between Dharma and Adharma. The visuals suggest that the battle is far greater than a simple confrontation between good and evil, with divine and Asura forces heading towards a massive war that could determine the fate of an entire world.
Led by Shukracharya, the powerful guru of the Asuras, the conflict appears to be building towards an epic confrontation. The ominous atmosphere, intense imagery and glimpses of the impending war culminate in the striking phrase, “The End Begins.”
The biggest highlight of the glimpse is undoubtedly Akshaye Khanna, who makes a striking appearance as Shukracharya.
The actor looks almost unrecognisable in the role, sporting an intense appearance and commanding screen presence. His powerful gaze and imposing portrayal bring tremendous gravitas to the character.
Following the curiosity created by his first look, the glimpse gives audiences their first substantial look at Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of the Asura guru. His role appears to be central to the larger conflict between Dharma and Adharma.
The glimpse also provides an expansive look at the ambitious visual world created for Mahakali. Striking imagery, detailed world-building, elaborate production design and impressive visual effects combine to create a larger-than-life cinematic experience.
Sriya Reddy also makes a powerful appearance, adding another layer of mystery to the narrative. The scale and detailing visible throughout the glimpse indicate the makers have built an elaborate world for the story.
With Hanu-Man laying the foundation for the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe and showcasing the filmmaker’s ability to transform Indian Itihasa-inspired stories into visually spectacular cinema, Mahakali appears to take that vision to an even larger scale.
The glimpse offers the first major window into the film’s world, suggesting that the PVCU is expanding in terms of scale, storytelling and visual spectacle.
Presented by RK Duggal and produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the RKD Studios banner, Mahakali is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, with Prasanth Varma serving as the creator of the cinematic universe.
The film also stars Bhoomi Shetty, Rohit Saraf, Sriya Reddy and several other prominent actors, alongside Akshaye Khanna.
With its mythological backdrop, intense conflict between Dharma and Adharma, grand visual world and Akshaye Khanna’s intriguing portrayal of Shukracharya, ‘Mahakali’ is shaping up to be another ambitious chapter in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe.
‘Mahakali’ will release worldwide in theatres on January 8, 2027.
