Madhavan to Play Mahesh Babu’s Father in SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29?

The buzz around SSMB29, the highly anticipated magnum opus starring Mahesh Babu and directed by SS Rajamouli, continues to grow louder. The latest reports making rounds on social media suggest that R Madhavan has been roped in to play Mahesh Babu’s father in the adventure epic.

While no official confirmation has been made by the makers, reports on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) claim that the role was initially offered to Chiyaan Vikram, who later opted out. This led to Madhavan being brought on board for the pivotal part.

If true, the casting of Madhavan would add further weight to the project, known for its massive scale and international scope. The film recently grabbed headlines for reportedly filming a key introductory sequence in Kenya, featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who plays the female lead. In parallel, a grand set resembling the ghats of Varanasi is being erected in Hyderabad, further hinting at the global scale of this cinematic spectacle.

SSMB29 is said to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with a speculated budget of ?900–1000 crore. Initially planned as a two-part saga, the film will now be released as a single feature, though it’s expected to have a longer runtime than usual.

Apart from Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and R Madhavan, the film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in a significant role. With SS Rajamouli at the helm, known for his storytelling mastery in the Baahubali and RRR franchises, expectations for SSMB29 are sky-high.
