The Movie Artists Association is heading for Presidential elections on October 10. Ahead of the elections, senior actor Suman has made some interesting remarks.
Attending an event in Gajuwaka, Suman said that it’s not right to stir up regional sentiments. He added that there are no local vs. non-local distinctions in the Telugu film industry, suggesting that art is above boundaries.
Suman added that thousands of cine workers and others have been affected by the pandemic adversely. “Anybody can contest in MAA elections. There should be no differentiation or discrimination on the basis of nativity. In films, Telugu, Tamil, and other actors are acting in movies made in different languages. When there is no problem in that, why should MAA elections be closed on the basis of regionality?” Suman asked.
He added, “So many junior and senior artists are hard-pressed for money. Old-age homes must be set up for their welfare. Many artists are too poor to afford treatment for BP and diabetes. Whoever becomes the next President of MAA must take initiatives for their welfare.”
