Kamala Selvaraj is a renowned obstetrician from Tamil Nadu and the daughter of the Tamil film actor Kadhal Mannan (King of Romance), Gemini Ganesan.
In an interview with IndiaGlitz viewers, Kamala Selvaraj shared insights about her father, saying, ‘My father used to receive love letters in bundles. Many women would come and stand at our doorstep, saying, “At least make me your household maid.”
She further said:
‘My father loved his family very much. In the early stages of his life, he struggled a lot. He had immense respect for my mother.
My father accepted Savitri. He publicly acknowledged their relationship so that their children wouldn’t grow up not knowing their father’s name.
The bond between my parents was strong. For my mother, my father and his mother were her entire world.
I have not met a man as handsome as my father to this day. He was a refined gentleman, well-read in the Quran, Bible, Mahabharata, and everything else. He was also a professor of chemistry.
When he was ill, he once asked me, “Why did I do this?” We told him, ‘Leave it, Dad. We are taking good care of you. Please take care of your health.’ He regretted some of his decisions.
When they made the biopic Nadigaiyar Thilagam on Savitri, which featured Keerthy Suresh, the director Nag Ashwin did not seek any permission from us.
There’s a scene in the movie where it shows that my father taught her how to drink. How can we accept this?
I liked Savitri Amma, but she was very arrogant. When I think of everything she did to us, she was very harsh.’
This is what Kamala Selvaraj expressed in the interview.
