Director and actor Visu opens up about Crazy Mohan, saying, 'He never knew how to hurt others. If he delivered a dialogue, before it ended, he would crack a joke. That’s Crazy Mohan. When I saw his writing, I developed an inferiority complex.'
Crazy Mohan left a lasting impression on Tamil cinema as a screenwriter and dialogue writer, as well as an actor. He also acted in TV serials and directed many stage plays.
He is renowned for writing dialogues for successful films like Arunachalam, Avvai Shanmugi, Panchathanthiram, Kaathala Kaathala, Thenali, Pammal K. Sambandham, Vasool Raja MBBS, and Michael Madana Kama Rajan.
In an interview, director and Arattai Arangam fame Visu recalled:
'I watched the play The Crazy Thieves in Palavakkam, starring S. Ve. Shekher with dialogues by Crazy Mohan, and I was amazed. To be honest, during that time, I developed an inferiority complex.
He captivated the entire audience, especially those aged 16 to 30. Crazy Mohan is younger than me, but his pen is older than mine.
I got the opportunity to make my first film Mazhalai Pattalam because of Crazy Mohan.
He didn't just gain fame by writing dialogues for films: his real recognition came from his plays. He traveled to countries worldwide, meeting thousands of people and winning the hearts of his fans.
Has he ever felt sadness? To know if Crazy Mohan had another face, you'd have to ask his wife.
To Maadhu, Balaji, and the rest of the team—don't give up. Keep sorrow behind you and rise again. All the best to Crazy Troupe!'
This is what Visu expressed in the interview.
