Karthik Subbaraj’s announcement about Two Films he has completed

Stone Bench started in the year 2014 with three divisions namely, Bench Flix – short film distribution platform, Bench Cast – a casting website & Bench Subs – a subtitling wing. With the support of the production houses and filmmaking fraternity of Tamil Cinema, we grew quickly and carved ourselves a name. Over three years, we have subtitled more than 150 movies, handled casting in over 25 movies and distributed over 200 short films apart from releasing two short film anthologies, Bench Talkies (2015) and Aviyal (2016). These divisions, though diverse in nature led to one unifying point – propelling us towards becoming a Production House.

We have been fortunate to find new like-minded partners – Mr. Kal Raman (USA) & Mr.Somasegar (USA), whose expertise we believe will add a new perspective with respect to expansion. And here we are. Stone Bench Private Limited is happy to announce the launch of its two new divisions – Films & Originals.

Stone Bench Films in its first phase is producing two feature films in Tamil – the first being "Meyaadha Maan" – a romantic drama set in North Madras starring Vaibhav and Priya Bhavanishankar in the lead, written and directed by debutant Rathna Kumar and the second being "Mercury" – a film by Karthik Subbaraj starring India’s Pride Prabhudeva in the lead with cinematography by National Award-Winning ace cinematographer Tirru. Both films are being produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam.

Filming of both the films has been completed and post production is happening at a brisk pace. Details of the films’ release will follow in the coming weeks.

The growth of Stone Bench has much to do with the exponential growth of digital content consumption and it was only natural for us to branch ourselves into digital content creation.

Presenting Stone Bench Originals, a digital content creation and distribution division. Stone Bench Originals will produce and distribute sketch videos, documentaries, short films, and web series along with other short format digital content. We are happy to announce the first production of Stone Bench Originals, "Kallachirippu", a thriller web series written and directed by Roju. The series will soon be released on major digital platforms across the world.
