Karthi one of the biggest star heroes of Tamil cinema is riding high in his career after his last two films 'Sulthan' and 'Viruman' turned out to be blockbuster hits. His next release on September 30th is the mother of all biggies 'Ponniyin Selvan' directed by Mani Ratnam and costarring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi and Trisha Krishnan with a host of veteran stars on board.

On the personal front Karthi is happily married to Ranjani from 2011 and has a daughter Umayaal born in 2013 and a son Kandhan born in 2020. In a recent interview, Karthi said that initially, he thought that one child is enough but soon realised that he should have atleast one more.

According to Karthi his siblings Suriya and Brinda are god's gift to him as they are always there for him at all times. Once when he fell ill his sister Brinda rushed to be with him leaving her own children in her husband's care. Karthi added that similarly when his wife Ranjani fell ill he couldnt be with her but her younger brother came to her aid and that too when his wedding was just a fortnight ahead.

The philanthropic star actor shared that these emotional incidents made him realize that his daughter too needs a sibling and vice versa and that's why he and his wife planned for their second child.
