Karthi is starring in a number of movies and has just finished the one in which he costars with Jyothika directed by Jeethu Joseph. A couple of days back he started shooting a new movie directed by Bhagyaraj Kannan of 'Remo' fame near Dindigul.

Rashmika Mandana is playing the lead role in the film which is reportedly titled 'Sultan'. Yesterday the shots were canned at the Dindigul Malai Kottai (Fort) when it was interrupted by a mob consisting of members of BJP, Shiva Sena and Hindu Munnani. The agitators started using bad words and tried to damage the equipment when the police rushed to the spot. Only then it came to be known that those gathered there were under the misconception that the film was based on the life of Tipu Sultan and they warned that they will not allow that story to be filmed. Though the police diffused the situation the shooting could not continue as planned. Those who led the miscreant group demanded that Karthi and the director reveal the story of the new film and only then they would allow the team to continue shooting.
