Three Engineering students from Kadapa were today arrested by police for allegedly spreading the false rumour that their fellow student is infected with Coronavirus.
The rumour took wings after the students of Global College of Engineering And Technology created a fake image that read: “Tension grips Global Engineering College in Kadapa after Shravan, an Engineering student, tests positive for Coronavirus.”
Shravan is one of the roomies of the accused, who wanted to pull a prank but the same failed, given that it's insensitive and also dangerous.
The accused will face charges under Section 505 (public mischief) of the IPC. Besides, they are currently facing a suspension from their college as well as college hostel.
Since the joke borders on mischief, the issue took a serious turn in no time.
