‘Kabali’ director’s film on legendary freedom fighter

It’s time for another biopic.  This time, it’s on a legendary freedom fighter who is a hero for many tribes in North India.  It’s Birsa Munda.  Namah Pictures will bankroll this project in Hindi.  Pa Ranjith, who has shot to fame across south India with ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’, will wield the megaphone.

“On the occasion of Birsa Munda Jayanti, Namah Pictures proudly announces a film based on the life of the revolutionary leader to be directed by filmmaker Ranjith.  Birsa Munda –  a real life hero who singlehandedly raised an army of tribals and fought against the British,” the production house said.

Taking to Twitter, the director expressed joy.  “Johar to all! Elated to be making my Bollywood directorial debut with this film on revolutionary leader Birsa Munda.  The film will be based on Mahasweta Devi’s ‘Aaranyer Adhikar’ (Jungle Ke Davedar),” Ranjith tweeted out.
