Suriya’s new movie to release only online and not in theaters?

The coronavirus pandemic has put the world in lockdown mode and relief from it looks faraway as the infections have crossed two and a half million worldwide and in India too it now stands at 21700.   The situation is pretty grim for the film industry as theaters that attract a large number of people will be the last to be allowed to open.  News is coming in from all quarters of the world that many production houses have planned to release even Hollywood biggies on OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon and Disney plus Hotstar.

News is floating around in Kollywood  that Suriya’s next production ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ starring Jyothika, Bhagyaraj, Pandiarajan, Parthiban, Prathap, and Thiagarajan has been sold to Amazon Prime for a huge amount.  It is said that the film will be an exclusive online stream and that theater owners are irked by this decision fearing if Suriya agrees to this method many other producers will follow suit and only stream their movies.  However, we have to wait and watch if this turns out this way or any changes occur.
