Jonathan Majors Removed from Marvel Universe After Assault Conviction

Jonathan Majors, the Emmy-nominated actor who rose to fame as Marvel’s Kang the Conqueror, is out of the superhero spotlight. Following his domestic violence conviction, Marvel Studios confirmed they will not move forward with him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Majors initially captivated audiences as He Who Remains in 2021’s “Loki,” later reprising the role in Season 2 and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” With box office successes like “Creed III” under his belt, his departure leaves a significant void in the MCU’s future plans.

He Who Remains was poised to be a major villain in upcoming phases, even slated for his own film, “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” Now, the project’s fate hangs in the balance, director Destin Daniel Cretton having previously stepped down due to scheduling conflicts. Marvel’s decision on recasting remains uncertain.
