Jio Cinema is an online streaming service backed by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance. The platform bagged the streaming rights to the most popular T20 cricket league IPL and aired the tournament to the users for free of cost. Now, Jio Cinema is in the race to become the market leader.
JioCinema recently introduced a premium plan to watch films and series on the platform. The service providers earlier signed a content streaming deal with HBO, Warner Bros & Discovery for popular shows such as 'Succession' and 'Game of Thrones'. Now, the latest is that Jio Cinema has struck a deal with the American entertainment channel NBC Universal.
NBC Universal's premium Hollywood content will be available in Jio Cinema soon. In a joint statement, the two firms acknowledged that they had reached a multi-year agreement that would grant Jio Cinema's premium members access to renowned shows like 'The Office', 'Suits', and 'Downton Abbey'. Jio Cinema's only premium plan costs Rs 999 for a year.
