‘Jersey’ Trailer: Husband, wife, son & a goal

At one level, the Trailer for ‘Jersey’ throws up elements that are somewhat similar to what was seen in the most recent blockbuster, ‘Majili’.  Cricket and two time periods aside, the main lead’s beard also is a throwback to the Naga Chaitanya-Samantha starrer.

But the similarities end there.

To be sure, ‘Jersey’ is more true-to-life apparently.  The doting wife of ‘Majili’ is replaced with a wife (Shraddha Srinath plays Nani’s love interest and wife) who is visibly frustrated with the ways of her 36-year-old husband.  When your wife is tough and has lost her patience, you are a real loser.  ‘Jersey’ is expected to have far better slice-of-life moments than what we have seen in any of Nani’s recent films.  Also, cricket match scenes are expected to pack a punch.

Arjun (Nani) finds emotional succor in his son and aspires to always be his best man.  Can he reinvent his career?

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film has music by Anirudh.  Sanu John Varughese’s visuals are able in the Trailer.

The film releases on April 19.
