Jagan releases YSRCP manifesto: Promises Navaratnalu Plus

The YSR Congress Party (YCP) has released its manifesto for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh elections, emphasizing enhanced welfare benefits and a commitment to social justice. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled the “Navaratna Plus” manifesto, which builds upon the existing Navaratnas program with increased financial assistance and expanded coverage.

Key Highlights:

Increased Financial Support:

Amma Vodi scheme benefits raised to Rs. 17,000 per year.

YSR Cheyutha assistance increased for women aged 45-60.

YSR Kapu Nestam support raised to Rs. 1,20,000 over five years.

YSR EBC assistance increased to Rs. 1,05,000.

YSR Zero Interest scheme for interest-free loans.

Housing schemes for the poor.

New Initiatives:

Interest subsidy for auto, taxi, and lorry buyers.

Rs. 10 lakh accident insurance for auto, taxi, and lorry drivers.

Vahana Mitra scheme extended to lorry and tipper drivers.

CM Jagan highlighted the government’s achievements in fulfilling promises made in the 2019 manifesto, emphasizing their commitment to welfare and social justice despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. He contrasted YCP’s track record with the previous TDP government, accusing them of failing to deliver on their promises and questioning their credibility.

Key Points of Comparison with TDP:

Job Creation: Jagan highlighted the creation of 2.31 lakh government jobs during his tenure compared to 32,000 during the TDP regime.

Social Justice: He emphasized the implementation of 50% reservation in nominated posts and ministerial positions for BC, SC, ST, and minority communities.

Financial Management: Jagan countered TDP’s claims of wealth creation, stating that revenue was consistently short during their rule and questioning their financial management.

Tax Burden: He pointed out that the tax burden was lower during his regime compared to the TDP government.

Welfare Expenditure: Jagan challenged the feasibility of TDP’s proposed schemes, stating that their implementation along with existing welfare programs would require an unrealistic budget allocation.

The YSRCP manifesto presents a clear focus on welfare programs and social justice. The party aims to build upon its existing initiatives and expand support for various sections of society. The electoral battle will likely center around the credibility of promises made by both YCP and the TDP alliance, with voters ultimately deciding which party’s vision resonates most with their aspirations.
