Army Chief General Bipin Rawat recently warned during a seminar at Delhi that India could go to a war with China and Pakistan at the same time, if need be, adding that it was a “myth” that “democracies or nuclear armed” countries didn’t go to war.

The Chief remarked that India and Pakistan had “irreconcilable” differences and pointed to how China had already started war-mongering, referring to the Doklam stand off. He further added that more issues like the Doklam could arise, as China would try to occupy Indian territory little by little. During such a situation, when India would be engaged with China, Pakistan might try to take advantage, he said. It would be detrimental for our preparedness if we were to not believe in war being a reality today, said General Rawat.
