The nationwide tally of Coronavirus cases have crossed 1.6 lakh, making India the world's ninth worst-hit country due to the virus and the death toll of the country is at 4,633 which is set to surpass China's official count of 4,634 deaths as per data from different states.

However as per data released by John Hopkins University, India has already crossed China with a total of 4,695 deaths by yesterday night. The first case of coronavirus originated in China in 2019 December and has now infected more than 57 lakh people worldwide, killing more than 3.5 lakh people.

From the official data released by China, the number of confirmed cases stood at 83,000, killing 4,634 lives. A PTI report has confirmed 4,633 deaths and the total number of cases as 1,60,666 besides also registering 70,000 recoveries.
