I reached this stage because of Anand’s financial support: Vijay Deverakonda

Vijay Deverakonda graced the pre-release event of ‘Dorasaani’ and his speech was a heart-felt one.  He spoke at length about his younger brother, Anand Deverakonda, the film’s hero.

“From the day Anand told me he will debut as an actor, I haven’t spoken much with him.  I will pour my heart out today.  Back when I was in Standard IV, Anand was in Standard I in the same school.  On the first day of his school, he came running to my classroom and pointed at me to his teacher.  Since he was crying inconsolably, the teacher let him sit with me for some time.  That day, I was heart-broken to see him weep so much.  Since then, he has been tailing me wherever I go,” Vijay said, suggesting that Anand has tailed him to the film industry, too.

“Anand was working in the US but I didn’t like it when he decided to come back to India.  He had a very good job at Deloitte.  He had gone there after lots of struggle.  Since he showed interested in acting, I cautioned him saying that acting is not a joke.  Since he persisted despite my warnings, I told him he can’t expect any kind of support from me.  I felt let him go through the difficulties of what it takes to bring out a film,” Deverakonda added.

The ‘Geetha Govindam’ actor choked with emotion when he said that it was Anand’s financial contribution to the family that made it possible for him to keep trying his luck in the film industry during his struggling days.  “If I am where I am today, it’s because of Anand,” the ‘Dear Comrade’ actor said, almost shedding tears.  At this, his mother and Anand could be seen getting emotional and almost crying.

“I haven’t promoted ‘Dorasaani’ in any way only with the intention of letting Anand learn things the hard way.  Let him be trolled, let him be shaken up.  And he is now handling things confidently,” the ‘Arjun Reddy’ star added.

“I recently watched the film and I am proud of what they did.  ‘Dorasaani’ is so magical.  The actors have emoted so much without uttering a line.  Credit goes to director KVR Mahendra.  The cinematographer (Sunny Korrapati), the music (Prashanth Vihari) – they have made a classic.  Shivathmika is terrific.  The nuances, her gaze, her looks – the world is going to see her superior performance soon,” Vijay said.

“This industry is a strange place.  They will praise you, they will mistake you, they will hate you, they will do everything.  Just do your dharma and it will work,” he said.

The film will hit the screens on July 12.
