For the first time, Megastar Chiranjeevi has said that ‘Acharya’ was a dud that stopped drawing crowds to theatres from the second day of its release. He attributed the mega failure to its weak content.
Speaking at the pre-release event of ‘First Day First Show’ last evening, the ‘Bholaa Shankar’ star said, “Till recently, there was this presumption that the film industry is in dire straits because the audience had stopped watching movies in theatres. The success rate has always been 5 to 10%. They are willing to watch movies in cinemas, provided you offer them the right content. ‘Bimbisara’, ‘Sita Ramam’ and ‘Karthikeya 2’ have proven it. They gave alluring content for 2.5 hours each. There is no change in the audience’s philosophy. They are ready to watch movies in theatres.”
“If you don’t give them proper content, your movie is going to disappear right on Day 2. I myself am one of the victims of this (trend),” the actor added, making an oblique reference to the Koratala Siva directorial.
Chiru awaits the theatrical release of ‘The Godfather’ for Dasara. Starring Nayanthara, Satyadev Kancharana, Salman Khan and others, the film is directed by Mohan Raja.
