On Sunday, veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was known for his on-screen style, joined the BJP in Kolkata ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections. He is the latest film celeb to take a plunge into politics.
Addressing a large crowd in the presence of Narendra Modi, Mithun said that he is a pure cobra. “You will be finished in one bite. Now, remember the new slogan. One bite and you will become a photo,” Mithun has been quoted as saying by ANI.
He added that he once dreamt of doing something big in life but never dreamt of being on a platform where the leader of the biggest democracy was present. Speaking to Republic Bharath, Mithun said that Modi has given him a guideline on the campaigning, which he is going to kickstart on March 12. “The BJP government will work for everyone in Bengal. It will do anything and everything to bring back Bengal’s glory,” a confident Mithun said.
The results of the Assembly elections will be out on May 2. Early trends say that the momentum is with the BJP. However, the ruling TMC is also strong.
