A conversation between a doctor working at a super-specialty Apollo hospital and a reporter in Hyderabad is doing the rounds in the form of an audio file. The 8-minute-odd file has the doctor saying that Hyderabadis have to lock themselves down till April 15 or risk their lives.
“Don’t touch even the buttons in the lift of your apartments. The novel coronavirus is highly infectious. Medical experts have observed that COVID-19 is airborne. This must be borne in mind before stepping out. Don’t let your domestic help in. Even celebs are doing their own works. The number of positive cases is going up every day in Hyderabad (on Friday it has touched 59). If you step out, assume that you are gone. If we don’t control this spread, 15 crore people will get the infection in India and more than 10 lakh will die,” the doctor is heard saying.
There is a rumour that 11,000 positive cases are there in Hyderabad. The doctor doesn’t seem to believe it. The government data is authentic and people are advised not to buy into scary rumours blindly.
