Sekhar Kammula has issued a statement expressing his concern over the Hyderabad child-rape incident. Earlier in the week, an LKG girl child was found to have been sexually molested repeatedly over a period of two months by the car driver of a high-profile school's principal. Protests have been on since then.
Taking to social media, the 'Love Story' director stated that he is shattered and helpless over the "horrific act". He added that he can't imagine the agony that the victim has been going through.
"My heart bleeds for the baby's parents who are putting up a brave fight," the 'Fidaa' maker said.
He opined that the system has to wake up and react, adding that we can't take safety for granted. "This can't happen in a civilized society. We need to build awareness, educate ourselves, and need to be vigilant," the 'Happy Days' maker wrote. "We will end up creating a society of fear if we break the trust of our children," Kammu wrote thoughtfully.
