Hiding travel history is a crime: Kerala Health Minister

As the nation is witnessing a spike in the number of coronavirus cases every day, Kerala’s Health Minister KK Shailaja has stated that refusing to reveal one’s travel history, which could cause a potential spread of the infection, will be considered a crime.

She further added that according to the Public Health Act, people who are supporting or hiding anything that leads to the spread of coronavirus is a crime. “If they become positive, they will spread the disease. So we are asking them to reveal their identity and contact health department. Chief Minister has announced that hiding travel history is a crime and proper action will be taken,” she reportedly stated.

Over 60 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the country, as several states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Ladakh, Pune, Telangana, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, reported fresh cases recently. Three infected people from Kerala and one person from Tamil Nadu have reportedly recovered fully.

The novel coronavirus, now officially called Covid-19, has claimed the lives of more than 4200 people and infected over 115800 people across the world. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency.
