'Manmadhudu-2' is officially the Telugu remake of a French comedy titled 'Prête-moi ta main' (2006). Akkineni Nagarjuna today confirmed that it's a remake. "We are making it legally after acquiring remake rights. As we started developing the script, I happened to watch 'Chi La Sow' and wanted to rope in Rahul Ravindran to direct the remake," Nag said.
As per the original film, the male lead is too old in age compared to the heroine. A commitment-phobic guy, he is constantly pestered by his family to get married. Having failed in love once, he concocts a plan with his friend's sister (Rakul Preet Singh as Avantika). While Avantika is the hero's rented girlfriend, his family believes otherwise.
He tells her not to turn up for marriage so that their wedding gets cancelled. By a quirk of fate, the hero's family puts the entire blame of the failed wedding on the hero instead of Avantika. This puts both him and his pseudo-girlfriend in a quandary.
To overcome the crisis, the hero now tries to make Avantika look bad in the eyes of his family. That's why she decides to show her "A certificate" to them. As any story predictably proceeds, love blossoms between the two. The hero eventually marries her, fulfilling his family's long-standing wish.
