Besides presenting the film, it needs no introduction that director Anil Ravipudi has supervised the direction department for Gaali Sampath. Grapevine is that the story of Gaali Sampath is a blatant rip-off of Ryan Reynolds-starrer Spanish psychological thriller Buried.
Directed by Rodrigo Cortes, Buried is the story of an Iraq-based American civilian truck driver, who, after being ambushed by terrorists, finds himself buried alive in a coffin.
Gaali Sampath, on the other hand, showcases Rajendra Prasad, an ex-Army man, who gets stuck in a pit dug to capture wild elephants and how he was rescued from it forms the crux of the film. The industry insiders were convinced that Gaali Sampath is an unauthorised copy of Buried as both shares almost similar plotlines.
Also starring Sree Vishnu and Lovely Singh, Gaali Sampath is pitted against Sharwanand-starrer Sreekaram and Jathi Ratnalu. The three films were slated for release on March 11 on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
