G.V. Narayana Rao No More: Veteran Actor’s Demise Leaves Telugu Film Industry in Mourning

Veteran actor and producer G.V. Narayana Rao passed away at the age of 73, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy spanning Telugu cinema, theatre and television. His demise has saddened the film industry and audiences who have followed his work over the decades.

Narayana Rao made his silver-screen debut with veteran filmmaker K. Balachander’s ‘Anthuleni Katha’ in 1976. A trained artiste from the Madras Film Institute, he made a strong impression with his very first performance and won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film.

Over the course of his career, Narayana Rao acted in more than 100 films and became part of several memorable projects. His notable films include ‘Mutyala Pallaki’, ‘Angadi Bomma’, ‘Chilakamma Cheppindi’, ‘Gang Leader’ and ‘Hitler’, among others.

Apart from acting, Narayana Rao also ventured into film production and backed several projects, including ‘Devamthakudu’, ‘Intiko Rudramma’, ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ and ‘Pelli Neeku Shubham Naaku’.

A Versatile Artiste Across Three Mediums

Narayana Rao shared a strong bond with theatre and actively participated in stage productions. He performed in plays such as ‘Mohammed Bin Tughlaq’, ‘Prataparudriyam’ and ‘Manchutera’, sharing the stage with celebrated artistes including the late actors Kota Srinivasa Rao, Nutan Prasad and Devadas Kanakala.

He later continued his acting journey through television serials, maintaining a presence in the entertainment industry across different mediums.

Narayana Rao was also known to share a close friendship with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Superstar Rajinikanth. Following his demise, Chiranjeevi expressed deep shock and recalled his long association with the veteran artiste.

Chiranjeevi Pays Emotional Tribute

Reacting to the news, Chiranjeevi described G.V. Narayana Rao as a senior actor, producer and his close friend, expressing shock over his passing.

Chiranjeevi recalled Narayana Rao’s journey from his 1976 debut in Anthuleni Katha and praised his distinctive performances in numerous films and television serials, noting that he had earned a special place in the hearts of audiences.

Remembering their professional association, Chiranjeevi said that he shared a very close bond with Narayana Rao and fondly recalled working together as producer and actor on films such as ‘Devamthakudu’ and ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’. He said their journey together had given him many cherished memories.

Chiranjeevi offered prayers for Narayana Rao’s soul to rest in peace and conveyed his deepest condolences to his family members, close associates and fans.

The Movie Artists Association (MAA) has also expressed condolences over the veteran actor’s demise.

With his contribution to cinema, theatre and television, G.V. Narayana Rao leaves behind a diverse body of work and an enduring artistic legacy. His memorable performances, production ventures and longstanding relationships within the industry will continue to be remembered by Telugu film lovers.
