Famous South Indian actor arrested in assault case

Popular Sandalwood actor Duniya Vijay was on Sunday arrested by police along with his three friends.   They have been arrested in connection with an assault case.  The victim is a gym trainer and his relative had filed a police complaint against Duniya Vijay and the other three.  As per an ACP, there are conflicting versions about the crime.  

“The accused have been lodged in the city central jail, as they have been remanded to judicial custody for investigating the assault charge,” IANS has quoted a top cop as saying.  

What exactly transpired between the victim and the accused?  “The accused and the victim went to watch a bodybuilding event at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Bengaluru on Saturday night and argued over some issue. They forcibly pushed Gowda into a car and drove away and thrashed him for over an hour while driving around the city,” an IANS report quotes the police as saying.  

The actor, however, has maintained that it’s his fans who assaulted the gym trainer, not him.  Vijay is one of the richest actors around.
