Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ released to an overwhelmingly positive response among fans this Diwali. However, a particular dialog criticizing the country’s Goods and Services Tax has attracted flak from several political leaders.
Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan condemned the dialog threatening to file a case if the controversial dialog is not removed which was followed by opposition from central minister Pon Radhakrishnan as well.
Many leading names from the film fraternity have been showing their support to Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Mersal’. Joining the bandwagon of supporters is the daughter and niece of legendary music composer Ilayaraja.
Vasuki Bhaskar, niece to composer Ilayaraja took to twitter to express her feelings towards the issue. Stating that the ‘gutsy’ GST statements were her favorite dialog in the film, she raised concern over the fact that how it was justifiable to cut scenes from a film which has passed the censors. It is also notable that Ilayaraja’s daughter Bhavatharani showed her support for Vijay’s ‘Mersal’.
