The Central Bureau of Investigation which is investigating the Sathankulam custodial death case has informed the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that false cases were filed by police against Jayaraj and Bennix and were taken into custody.
This was informed by CBI to the Madurai bench which was hearing a plea moved by inspector Sridhar who sought bail. Inspector Sridhar is currently in the Madurai prison and had filed a petition in Madurai Bench of Madras High Court seeking bail due to health condition.
He had mentioned in the petition that as forensic and other experts have collected the evidence the investigation has come to an end, adding that he’ll not abscond and will follow the court proceedings and requested to release him on bail. In response the CBI counsel said that 45 people were investigated and they found that false charges were slapped against Jayaraj and Bennix for taking them to police custody, and so Sridhar might destroy evidence if bail is granted, and following this the Bench adjourned the case hearing to September 11.
