‘Shape of You’ singer Ed Sheeran mourned the death of Shane Warne and paid an emotional tribute to the legendary Australian cricketer who passed away on March 4 from a suspected heart attack at a villa in Thailand.
In a post on his Instagram page, Ed Sheeran recalled his last phone conversation with Shane Warne on the death anniversary of Australian music mogul Michael Gudinski. Sharing a picture of Gudinski and Shane Warne, Ed Sheeran wrote, “I spoke to Shane on the anniversary of Michael’s passing this week saying we were both raising a glass of 707 in his honour, and now this news comes out. Shane was the kindest heart, and always went above and beyond to make people feel welcome and special. Such a gentleman.”
The singer added, “He gave so many hours and years of his life to bring joy to others, and was such an amazing friend to me. Il bloody miss you mate. Absolutely gutted.” Cricketers, celebrities, politicians, cricket viewers and fans across the world offered their condolences to Shane Warne, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history.
