Samantha Akkineni is of the view that actors should be seen as entertainers and not fact-checkers. In her latest Instagram post, the star actress indirectly hit out at those who heckle at film celebs for dishing out opinions on political and other issues. The actress wrote that actors are humans who are mistaken in their opinions at times.
“Why are actors crucified for having an opinion about the important matters pertaining to the world? We are humans too and We make mistakes too. But canceling us for speaking out or not speaking out aloud on each & every topic is a bit unfair, don’t you think? Let us stick to what we do best .. making you fall in love with our performances (sic),” the ‘Oh Baby’ actress wrote.
On the work front, Samantha is acting in ‘Shaakunthalam’, a pan-India mythological folk movie. Directed by Gunasekhar, it will release in 2022 most likely. Starring Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the film has cinematography by Sekhar V Joseph and music by Mani Sharma. Dialogues are by Sai Madhav Burra, while VFX is by Alagar Sami.
