Vijay Sethupathi is impressing his fans with back-to-back hits and his versatile story selection. Today the Mater actor's long-delayed movie Maamanithan was released in theatres and is receiving positive reviews from fans and critiques.

Director Shankar who happened to watch the film has praised VJS in his latest tweet. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram and Shaji Chen. In addition, Yuvan composed the soundtrack of this film along with his father, Ilaiyaraaja. The cinematography and editing were handled by M. Sukumar and A. Sreekar Prasad, respectively.

The story revolves around the protagonist who loses his and the whole rural town's money to a crook Madhavan who scoots off with the money of the villagers which forces Radha Krishnan to abandon his family and abscond.
