Young and talented filmmaker TG Keerthi Kumar began his journey with the debut film "Malli Modalaindi," featuring Sumanth Yarlagadda. Now, he is set to release "Chaari 111," starring Vennela Kishore, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 1st. As the release date draws near, Keerthi Kumar took some time to delve into the film's details and offer intriguing insights. "Chaari 111" is produced by Aditi Soni under the Barkat Studios banner.
Give us a brief overview of your career and how 'Malli Modalaindi' happened.
I started my career as an editor for TV commercials and corporate films. After 10 years, I made my directorial debut with 'Malli Modalaindi' starring Sumanth Yarlagadda.
How did 'Chaari 111' come to fruition?
I pitched the idea to Vennela Kishore when he was working as a comedian in 'Malli Modalaindi.' He read the script and immediately agreed to do the project, showing great trust in me from the beginning.
What was the inspiration behind 'Chaari 111'?
I was inspired by the core theme of films like 'Pink Panther' and 'Johnny English.' I wanted to create a spy comedy with Vennela Kishore in mind, believing he would be perfect for the role.
You mentioned English films as inspiration. Were there any Telugu films that influenced you as well?
Yes, definitely. Films like Chiranjeevi's 'Rudranetra' and 'Chantabbayi' were major inspirations. I even named the main agency in our film after 'Rudranetra.'
Why did you choose Murali Sharma for the role of Kishore's boss?
I wanted a serious-looking actor to play the role of Kishore's boss, who is constantly irritated by him. Murali Sharma fit the bill perfectly.
Do you have a favorite comedy track from Vennela Kishore's films?
I appreciate his comedy timing, but I also enjoy his serious performances in films like 'Oke Oka Jeevitham' and 'Goodachari.'
In the trailer, the villain is seen wearing a mask. Was this a conscious effort to hide the villain's identity?
It wasn't a deliberate attempt to conceal the villain's identity. However, the mask adds an interesting touch to the story and helps build suspense for marketing purposes.
Between 'Malli Modalaindi' and 'Chaari 111,' did you ever consider working with a star hero?
I would love to work with a star hero in the future. I have a desire to make an action entertainer with a star hero, but I believe I need to prove myself first. I'm happy with the opportunity to make 'Chaari 111.'
Are there any plans for sequels?
Yes, there is potential for sequels. The trailer hints at the idea of the Rudranetra agency, which could allow for more heroes to join the universe. I must admit that there is a plan to make a sequel to 'Chaari 111,' given the potential for more spy comedies in this universe.
