Certain representatives of the Telugu film industry, mainly Shivaji Raja, Jhansi, Uttej, Hema, and others on Sunday approached the Jubilee Hills police station with a complaint against the host of a TV channel who recently used offensive language against the industry's female talent.
Earlier in the day, Lavanya Tripathi wrote, "It's shameful and disgusting. I am not talking about just this video, been seeing such videos quite a lot these days. Some ppl are trying to find different ways of disrespecting women, this way or the other.. And sadly, it's not just the men who are doing this."
Lakshmi Manchu said, "NO ONE can use such words generalizing and labelling women, no matter what. Targeting actresses will be least tolerated by our fraternity. I condemn this & won’t let this go easy. #GetALife than gaining publicity by speaking derogatorily towards the women of the industry."
Manchu Manoj reacted rather violently, saying, "Hope he has a mother and sister ... if only I see him I will break his fuc*in jaw ... if anyone sees him do the same ... Start respecting women."
However, the reaction is largely disproportionately low considering the gravity of the reckless, abusive comments by the TV host. Also, it has to be seen how far they will go in pursuing the issue legally.
