Woman gang-raped in Tamilnadu

A Delhi based woman, who had come to Kumbakonam after she got a job offer in a bank, was raped by a group of four men on Saturday past midnight.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, arrived at Kumbakonam on November 2. She boarded an auto in the middle of the night, whose driver had abandoned her in the middle of nowhere after an altercation happened between them regarding the fare.

She decided to ask a passerby on a bike for a lift, who took her to a secluded spot in the Kumbakonam bypass road and raped her, followed by his three friends, who had joined him later. The victim did not report the incident in order to avoid repercussions, but her colleagues filed a complaint after they were made aware of the tragedy.

The four men have been arrested and charged under sections 366, 354, 376, and 506.
