Deepika Padukone to be a presenter at the 95th Oscars ceremony

Deepika Padukone, who is basking in the glory of ‘Pathaan’, has been chosen as one of the presenters at the upcoming edition of the Academy Awards, due to be held on March 12 in Los Angeles. The Bollywood superstar, known for both commercial films and glamour, is in the august company of the likes of Emily Blunt, Samuel L Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B Jordan, Janelle Monáe, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Connelly, Riz Ahmed, and Melissa McCarthy.

For someone who has attained international fame, this recognition is a feather in the cap. The ‘Chennai Express’ actress has previously been the only Indian celeb to be on the Cannes Jury.

Last year, just weeks before the release of SRK’s ‘Pathaan’, she was there at the inaugural of the FIFA World Cup trophy. 

Deepika’s fans are elated. They are flooding her with congratulations via social media. “You guys won’t believe me but the moment Pathaan’s box office started making international headlines I had a feeling they’d ask Deepika to present,” a fan wrote, reacting to the news today. 

The Oscars event will be keenly watched by Indians, who are expecting ‘Naatu Naatu’ to win the Best Original Song award.
