Actress Deepika Padukone's recent movie Chhapaak was released on January 10, and the movie has received good response from critics. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal who is an activist, and Deepika played a role named Malti.

After the release of the movie, Deepika Padukone and her team conducted a sting operation to check how shops sell acids, and whether they follow the regulations in selling acid. Few of the team members went to different shops and mentioned different reasons for buying acid.

While the shopkeepers are seen selling acid without any verification, one woman shopkeeper asks whether it is bought to attack anyone, and another just tells the customer not to use for attacks. Only one of the shopkeepers asks for an ID proof from the customer who asks acid. The video ends with acid attack victims listing the rules to be followed while selling acid, and Deepika's appeal to shopkeepers not to sell acid illegally, and this awareness video has turned viral.
