Deepika broke up with Ranbir. Why is it news now?

Deepika Padukone said goodbye to Ranbir Kapoor years ago.  They were in a relationship in the late 2000s when they were still fledgling stars.  The Kapoor hero did a blunder by having a relationship with Katrina Kaif.  This is when Deepika cried infidelity and broke up with Ranbir once and for all.  

At a time when the ‘Padmaavat’ actress is in a serious relationship with Ranveer Singh, sections of national media are pulling out an old interview of Deepika, in which she spoke of why she had broken up with Ranbir.  

“For me, sex is not just about physicality; there are emotions involved. I have never cheated or strayed when I am in a relationship. If I am going to be fooling around, why would I be in a relationship? It’s better to be single and have fun,” Deepika said in the interview, adding that no relationship where respect and trust are a casualty can be sustained.
