Wonder Woman is one of the principal characters in the DC franchise. Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman series is one of the highest-grossing superhero films in the DCEU. While the sequel Wonder Woman 1984 opened to mixed reviews in 2020, director Patty Jenkins has recently confirmed that a new WW film is under works.
The director said in the DC FanDome 2021, "We‘re super excited about Wonder Woman 3" and added that "Gal Gadot is so bummed about not being here, who’s the busiest person in the world, with now three little kids and shooting. We both are very excited about some things coming up.” Jenkins described Wonder Woman as, “the most relevant superhero of our times.”
The biggest surprise of the announcement is when Patty revealed that Lynda Carter, who portrayed the iconic character in the 1970’s live-action television series, will be involved in Wonder Woman 3. Carter appeared in a cameo role in the mid-credit scene of Wonder Woman 1984 as Warrior Asteria, a powerful Amazon warrior known for her golden eagle armor.
