Creative maker Kodi Ramakrishna is no more

Renowned director Kodi Ramakrishna, a Telugu film industry stalwart of the 1980s and 1990s, is no more.  He breathed his last days after he started to be treated for a lung infection at Gacchibowli’s AIG hospital.  He died at 3pm on Friday.

Kodi had suffered a paralysis in recent years.  However, he recovered from the paralytic attack after spell.

It was with the 1982 film ‘Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya’ that the late director had debuted.  ‘Mangamma Gari Manavadu’ (1984), ‘Thalambralu’ (1986), ‘Aahuthi’ (1987), ‘Station Master’ (1988), ‘Muddula Mavayya’ (1989), ‘Pelli’ (1997), and ‘Dongaata’ (1997) are among his popular movies.

Known for making films in different genres, he made spy films, socially-conscious subjects and even supernatural thrillers. ‘Ammoru’ in 1995 was a huge sensation.  ‘Devi’ in 1999 was a trend-setter.  ‘Arundhati’ in 2009 became one of the best-made films of the new millennium.  Some of his early films reflected the angst of the ’80s youngsters, who were riven by unemployment and emotional distress.  He directed more than 100 films in total, one of the few filmmakers in the world to hold this splendid record.

The Telugu film industry has lost one of its best creators.  May his soul attain Sadgati.  Condolences to the bereaved family members.
