COVID 19 - TN and Chennai record highest infections at the start of the new month

The beginning of a new month has not changed anything and only worsened the COVID 19 situation in the state of Tamil Nadu as today too the highest single-day spike of 1162 new cases have been detected. Chennai has maintained its dubious distinction of contributing the highest percentage with 967 of those cases. There are now 23,495 patients in the state and 15,751 in the capital city alone.
The death toll has reached 184 after 11 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours. On the positive side 413 people have been discharged today pushing up the total number of recoveries to 13,170.
10,964 persons have been tested today out of 4,80,246 tested so far. 11,377 samples tested today and 636 are under process. 1322 children under the age of 12 affected so far which is another alarming factor. A total of 1,05,727 passengers have entered Tamil Nadu by various modes of travel as on May 31. Out of this, 1628 of them have tested positive for the novel coronavirus so far.
